What is Coaching?
Coaching is a partnership between a coach and a client with a simple objective:

to assist the client in knowing …
what they want,
why they want it,
and how to get it.

The client is not told what to do, but rather the client decides what to do as the coach:

  • helps the client determine his/her goals
  • leads the client in developing plans and overcoming obstacles
  • provides support, encouragement, and accountability
  • consistently raises the client’s awareness and responsibility
  • and gives the client a process for getting results.

The coach’s key skills are assessing, listening, asking questions, bringing perspective,
and ultimately tapping the client’s ability to get from here to there.
